Re: WIP: Reversi
I don't recall what the state was. I think I solved pretty much all the VBLANK issues and the apparent bugs. It has been many years now since I touched my Creativision or Laser 2001, and even longer since I programmed for it. Perhaps one day I'll get back to it. I found this binary, assembled on Aug...

Re: Hello from Italy!
the disk drive format seems to be the same used in Laser 500 How surprising for being VTech! I thought every machine they made was unlike and incompatible with all the others in their line. Speaking of which, there was a fellow on Twitter who had a joystick interface for the Laser 200 series, which...

VTech Laser 500 and MSX2
In the Facebook group for the Laser 500 series, it was just brought to attention that the Laser 500 computer started off as a project to make a MSX2 computer but that VTech changed their mind and made a custom computer to replace the Laser/VZ series 1xx/2xx/3xx (c:a 1983 IIRC). Read more about the M...

Good luck! It would seem the demand for physical releases of homebrews is stronger than ever.

Re: Where could you buy a Creativision?
At the moment, the Royal Swedish Library (KB) has opened their magazine search engine as a benefit to all bored, self-isolating people. I've made a number of searches on topics that otherwise are near impossible to find information on the Internet, but it turns out the magazine archive is full of in...

Re: Archimedes
For a second I thought about the Socrates, which actually is a VTech product. Hey, in the dark all ancient Greeks look the same!

Re: Colecovision Module
Great write-up! I'm forgetting, do the Salora branded game cartridges say Manager somewhere on the screen instead of Laser 2001 or CreatiVision? From what I understand, quite a bit of the interior electronics in Salora products were manufactured elsewhere (e.g. Siemens, Luxor) and possibly just asse...

Re: Great TMS Video Chip Demo
That the TI VDP was worked on in 1977-78 is interesting as the GI STIC is of similar lineage and it sometimes is claimed one was inspired by the other. Of course we also have Atari, to a lesser extent Commodore and a bunch more hardware developers around the same time. In reality all of them probabl...

Re: Great TMS Video Chip Demo
Nice documents, and cool game. When Karl Guttag writes they've had fully functional VDP's for 2.5 years by April 1981, does he mean the original 9918 without bitmap mode etc? As for the picture quality, would that be due to what happens once you feed its signals to a RF modulator, something TI avoid...
