We will never know the truth. I heard a similar 'rumour' about the CreatiVision, which claimed the console as designed by Korean manufacturer Oltron on behalf of Coleco, and then the design was sold to Vtech because Coleco apparently was not willing to proceed with Oltron. After 16 years of searching, I finally put my hands on a boxed complete (and in great shape, too!) Funvision BASIC today! It well may be the 7805 is gone, still easy to replace. Hopefully that's the only damage occurred internally.

hahaha i am no legend. my experience is very limited too. your mistake about AC and DC is very common, because most of the videogames power supplies are AC-to-DC. in the case of CreatiVisions, the power supply is AC-to-AC. but because the console operates with DC internally, the "AC-to-DC rectifier"...

Mate, there is no "+" and "-". The power supply is AC (alternate current). You have positive/negative on DC only.

I am unsure if you can use one single transformer to obtain two power lines. In my case I utilised 2 separate transformers and that worked 100%.

Mark, I suggest you look at the connector on the console side. You will find out that the pins/power lines are coupled 1-2 and 4-5. Pin 3 (centre) is not utilised.

This obviously reflects on the power supply DIN
