Re: Look what's arrived!
...and it does NOT work :-( Up and down are fine but none of the buttons are working. That's interesting because they WERE working on the last version :-/ The good news is that the fit of those controllers is excellent! I can tweak it some to make it better, but it's tweaking. I need to sit down and...

Re: Look what's arrived!
OK I couldn't leave well alone enough. Cut up a set and fitted them to see how well they'd go. The tolerances? They're really tight. It needed a little cleanup with a jeweler's file to be a perfect fit, but only a few seconds of work. You could use a nail file if that's all you had. We'll find out t...

Look what's arrived!
IMG20221101092947.jpg Will this round of PCBs work? We'll find out soon I hope. I'll need to go and buy some more SMD diodes and switches but there's nothing wrong I can see so far With a tail wind and some luck, we should know by next Monday whether this is actually a viable solution or not :-D Ex...

Sounds exciting, Mobsie.
Keep the updates coming
The extra buttons on the SNES are a cool idea. I've used Megadrive / Genesis controllers on one of my projects for a similar reason.

Replacement controller membrane solutions are being investigated, just very slowly

Re: sprites that disappear
Well I don't think you'll be able to test anything other than a small number of keys on the controller with just Sonic Invader. I'd suggest you look at one of the MultiCart solutions. There are powerful ones (Thanks to Scouter3D) and there are Open Source ones you can do yourself. (Full disclosure! ...

Re: Replacement Membranes for Creativision controllers
@Mobsie, no plans to give up. I plan to send out another order on the weekend.
@Mamejay that was my thought too. I'll have a go at scratching it back. Mind you I hate working with fiberglass pens. So many ouchy fibers.

Re: Replacement Membranes for Creativision controllers
Hmm, some boards arrived from JLCPCB, but the solder mask is wrong so I'll need to do a THIRD run.
Maybe I can slide in a new version of the top board at the same time?

Re: Were there any games on Tape?
Oh yeah, On the subject of BASIC being slow... I ran a test of a little test program developed by Noel of "Noel's Retro Lab" and the VTech BASIC was the third slowest on record. The only things that were even in the same ballpark were those hand held "computers" that looked like long calculators tha...
