Re: Black Screen CreatiVision
Solder joints are dull, and I think this may have been a "friday afternoon special". Most of the vias wren't flowed all the way through, and the same applied to many of the legs of components. There was pits and cavities in many of the solder blobs too. No obvious other hints of corrosion. I've sinc...

Re: Black Screen CreatiVision
OK it looks like there are some significant degredation of the vias on this board. I've been bodging and fixing all day.
Fixed three address lines and two data lines and now I have activity all over the place. Still no picture though.

Black Screen CreatiVision
So I've been working on my CreatiVision. So I have fixed Phi by finding a trace broken. Similar on the NMI (Which wasn't being pulled up) traced to a bad via. I've also fixed the trace I broke. (Whoops!) Now I'm stuck with all Address lines pulled high, and all but D0 pulled high on Data. Phi in and...

Re: PCB what your experience
I use JLCPCB. They do a $10 shipping option if you're happy to wait. That's what I always use
I've also used Seeed Studio (Yes, three 'e's) but as I tend to order 4 or 5 PCB sets at a time, JLCPCB ends up being the cheapest option.

Re: Hello From Canada
Hi @raritynine, I recently built a new transformer for my CreatiVisions, which was an interesting learning experience (I hate hate hate working with high voltage AC). If you have any questions, ask here and I'll see what I can do to help :-) (I have always told people that the CreatiVision feels lik...

Re: Is this a factory mod?
Well, the Xtal for the TMS9929 is totally shot, so I've ordered a replacement for that. (There were char marks on the board from whoever was here before me, the plastic on the package was melted and 2 tracks were lifted.) Phi0 seems to come and go randomly, which is not confidence inspiring. I might...

Re: Is this a factory mod?
When I checked, all address lines seemed to be stuck at high, so presumably FFFF.
This could be the excuse to get a logic analyser I have been looking for
