Re: Seasons Greetings All
Ooh that sounds really interesting MADrigal. Definitely will need a better keyboard ;-) On that front, does anyone have a schematic for the Moving Key Keyboard? I suspect it'll be a simple enough design. I want to make a proper Mechanical keyboard for the CreatiVision. Obviously i'll open source the...

Re: CreatiVision with distorted output then crash
Well, it looks like it WAS a dry joint. Went over the board with a magnifier, marked all dubious looking solder points and went and resoldered all of them. There was a "bodge wire" that was particularly loose, between the lower RF shield and ground, so I wonder if that was my weak point.

Re: CreatiVision with distorted output then crash
OK so more info. I think I must have a dry joint somewhere, so I'll pull it apart and see what I can spot. When the distortion starts, if I give the unit a tap on the top, the distortion goes away. Hope it's not below the lower shield.

Re: CreatiVision with distorted output then crash
Well, I finally got the Wizzard on the bench again, and the voltages look within what'd I'd expect the tolerances to be. The AC is putting out 17v unloaded on the 16v line and 10v unloaded on the 9v line. On the inside, measured at the pins for the 4116 RAM I get +5 = 5.02 +12 = 11.9 -5 = -5.2 This ...

Nice!
Also quite a reasonable price, by the looks of things.

Thanks Scouter3d,
Hadn't thought of the internal voltage regulators!
(May swap them over with a minature switchmode 7805 replacement)

CreatiVision with distorted output then crash
Hey all, My CreatiVision seems to have developed a fault, and before I start ripping it apart, I thought I'd check if any of you have seen this issue. On bootup it's fine for a few minutes, then the picture starts to distort and the speaker makes a loud buzzing noise. The best way I could describe t...

Seasons Greetings All
It's been a bit quiet here recently, but I hope you're all having fun with your CreatiVision goodies. It's been an interesting year for me. Got my first Dick Smith Wizzard. Worked with Clockmeister to develop up his design for the open source multicart. From nothing to lots in no time at all :-D I s...

Re: New Open Source MultiCart released
OK, moved things to GitHub and stuck up a new version. I don't yet have the line swap in but it does have a prominent "THIS SIDE UP" and two holes to assist in mounting. I'm thinking, if I can, I'll make the line swap cuttable traces plus solderable bridges so it works out of the box, but is easy to...

Re: New Open Source MultiCart released
MADrigal, Clockmeister and I wondered about that too. As all the files are there in KiCAD, that's an easy change to make. Next time I do an order I might try a "byteswapped" version and just do some experimenting. This was my main reason for the CC-BY-SA license we released it under. People can just...
