So, if, like me, you have tried using DuPont connectors to connect your home brew joystick / keyboard adapter to your Creativision, you've probably found the connection less than perfect.
WHen I last opened up one of the controllers, I looked inside the connector end and thought "that looks suspiciously like a standard connector I can source from my local electronics hobbyist store" and sure enough, it is!
It's a 10 pin 2.54mm (0.1") pitch crimp header / housing.

I bought some and they're a perfect fit. The slide on and off, without forcing but aren't loose in the fitting.
I'll fire up the OpenSCAD and design a 3D printed housing to mimic the official ones on the real joysticks.

Scouter3d I was going to target ribbon cable coming out the back. Is that preferred by you or would you prefer me to source some 10 strand cable instead?

Ribbon cable it is
(It's what I prefer)
OK version 0.1 has been designed and printed and mostly worked? I need to scale up some parts minutely and other parts down. I have to add holes got fasteners and the like but for a first attempt? It worked well enough. The print also failed due to an adhesion issue. Still working on that.
This is very optimised for resin printers, as that's what I have
Once I'm done I'll dump them all on github and you can remix to your heart's content.
I'll do another revision later this week if I get a chance.
(Print time is about an hour)

Re: Correct connector for CreatiVision replacement keyboard / joysticks
Been working on a new version.
I don't have it quite right yet but we're getting there. I'm having adhesion problems with the overhangs. I might try printing it at an angle. The big change (Other than fixing some clearance issues) for this one is the mounting holes. It's designed so you can use an M3 tap to put a thread into the upper half and it'll hold together quite nicely.
I'll keep working on it until I can get a useable model.
