Look what's arrived!
I'll need to go and buy some more SMD diodes and switches but there's nothing wrong I can see so far
With a tail wind and some luck, we should know by next Monday whether this is actually a viable solution or not
Excited!

Re: Look what's arrived!
OK I couldn't leave well alone enough.
Cut up a set and fitted them to see how well they'd go.
The tolerances? They're really tight. It needed a little cleanup with a jeweler's file to be a perfect fit, but only a few seconds of work. You could use a nail file if that's all you had.
We'll find out this weekend whether it actually works I guess

Re: Look what's arrived!
...and it does NOT work
Up and down are fine but none of the buttons are working. That's interesting because they WERE working on the last version :-/
The good news is that the fit of those controllers is excellent! I can tweak it some to make it better, but it's tweaking.
I need to sit down and trace out where I went wrong... What a pain!
Oh well. All part of the design process I guess.

Re: Look what's arrived!
OK, so I know I haven't posted for a while. You can blame me getting FOUR Tandy CoCo2s and fixing them
BUT I did do some checking. I traced all the wires and they had connectivity through. That meant there was a mistake in my design.
Having a look at the schematics showed me where I'd gone wrong. I'd swapped a pair of connectors!
So I desoldered and resoldered everything. Tomorrow I'll pull out the Creativision, check that I haven't blown up the controller, and then test the bodged connection. Crossing fingers now...

OK so I STILL have a bug somewhere. I need to do some more sanity work on this.
Back to the schematics...

Re: Look what's arrived!
OK so I have definitely stuffed up something here. even shorting the 3 pins together doesn't work. I'm going to need to sit down and work out where my schematic got corrupted and start there. At this point I don't trust it at all.
