So this is true...

http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2016/02/di ... ally-dead/

300 shops closing in AU

60 shops closing in NS

Only a bunch of shops will be left open in airports... I bet that's no more than 10 total.

The end of an era started about 40 years ago.

:-(

I don't know the company well enough, but compared to the situation over here where similar companies (e.g. Clas Ohlson, Kjell & Company) open new stores everywhere they can, it seems tough that they have no buyer and have to close down the entire chain. Actually I think most of those companies once started as mail order and then opened physical stores as demand increased. Perhaps careful thinning out on stores over the past decade may have lead to a different result in the end, but it would also send signals of a suffering company.

At least we still seem to have Video Technology going strong.

DSE was simply expensive. Not only against online shop prices, but also against local competitors such as JB Hifi, Harvey Norman and Officeworks.

Also, the DSE-branded products were nothing but low/medium quality stuff made you-guess-whereabouts with cheap components.

It is no mystery that it is now bankrupt for the 2nd time in a few years.

I am just very sad because it is yet another piece of computer history to come to an end.
