Thanks for the explanation - that's really very very clever :)
With this system you can definitely add ROM games of every size! :)

Hi,

i looked up the pinout i drew 5 years ago of the salora joystick ports.

It looks like it is very much an "Ataristyle" layout with the addition of the second PA line (i guees for checking the second firebutton very much like on the CreatiVision, where all the directions and the first firebutton are on one PA line and the second firebutton is on the 2nd)

Cheers, TOM:0)

Cheers Tom!

1) Does this mean I can use any two button Atari/MSX joystick?

2) Where do I get one?

3) Will you be putting together a RAM + Joystick pack for Salora Manager / Laser 2001?

Loadable demo-once WAV files for Salora Manager.

AirSea Rescue, Crazy Chicky, Crazy Pucker and Sonic Invaders.

BLOAD $AFC0

CALL -20544

Good luck!

You can also just use the 4K BASIC loader attached.

1) Sadly No (i strongly guess) :0( (there are near to no Atari-pinout Joysticks with 2 real seperate buttons and if they are they are using a wrong pinout to work with the Laser, as they tend to use the 5V line plus one of the Paddle inputs, which are not connected on the Laser...) The Setup on the laser is connect one PB pin to two different PA lines => on any other computer tthe second PA line would be +5V which could be bad news...)
1b) The MSX 2 button joysticks also have a wrong pinout for the 2nd button
1c) Sega sadly also not without mod...

2) One way would be to internally rewire a Competition Pro (best joystick ever :0)) sadly most of the joystickcables are missing unused pins, so a Competition (or any other joy with two firebuttons) with "autofire" would be a good choice for the mod, as it will have all the necessary (5V on the Atari) connections...

3) Do you need a Salora Ram expansion? I might still have one...

Cheers, TOM:0)

I confirm that those are correct on the Salora Manager - just checked with Astro Pinball and the left flipper works with 5 and 6 connected, right flipper with 6 and 8.

Thanks! (New and Edited Version!)

I thought so! then it would be only two wires that need to be changed inside an autofire joystick with 2 buttons:

1) remove GND (Pin8 of the DB9) connection from Firebutton 2
2) remove 5V (Pin7 of the DB9) from autofire cirquit
3) solder the 5V line to where the GND was on Firebutton 2
4) Swap/Move Pin7 to Pin5 on the DB9 (either you can open the plug(most unlikely), use a little "GenderChanger" with Pin7 moved to Pin5) or cut off the plug and solder on a new female DB9 plug with the swapped line)
5) Play Pinball :0)

Autofire will not work! (and never will on the Salora without a modification), as there is no 5V on the joystick-sockets...
