A nice prime number benchmark for 80's BASIC machines.

The Salora took 874s to complete the prime numer task (without any speedup tricks) :0)

Thats faster than an Apple II Plus (same prozessor, same speed) at 960s
and even faster than a TRS-80 Modell II (Z80 with twice the speed (4MHz)) at 955s

Cheers, TOM:0)

Yes, Apple 2+ runs with a little more then 1 Mhz.

The Salora / Laser2001 runs with 2 Mhz, the Apple Basic must be really optimized.

The C-64 runs with less then 1 Mhz.

Hi Mobsie, you are right, (i got the MHz values from the benchmark results page, they seem to have wrong values :0))

Yes Apple ][ is 1.023Mhz

However - AppleSoft II BASIC == MS-BASIC == Salora Manager / Laser 2001 BASIC.

The main difference is I/O overhead.

Now an SD-card based floppy emulation for the Salora / Lassr like we have for the CBM‘S would be cool.

Dunno about floppy emulation - as there's no floppy apps etc - or does someone have VisiCalc for Salora Manager?

I suspect it's not too dificult to do through the expansion port - as the existing drive controller manages to place an extra 6k ROM and a PIA there.
