Re: Salora Manager Disk ROM
Provided the audio out is working, it's quite easy to copy the data in tracks, then write each track to audio.
No ASM needed - just good old BASIC.
The big problem is the PSU. I would expect that once you know what voltages etc are inputs, it could be done.
Does someone have a working FDD PSU that they could meter for you?

Re: Salora Manager Disk ROM
I don't have any equipment to build me a Pau, not a way to connect the manager to my laptop. My best chance is to send the floppy disks to someone for dumping.
I am returning to Italy in a week. I could take the floppies to Italy Nd then ship to your tom if you guys have the equipment, time and will to dump them,. Then return to me when finished as they are very valuable
Pls advise

Re: Salora Manager Disk ROM
I have no way to dump old 5.25" disks - so hopefully Tom will have a cunning plan.
The disks are just modified AppleDOS - so perhaps someone with a working Apple ][ setup may be able to dump them with a little modified software.
Failing that - would you be willing to perhaps send the floppies and hardware to Tom?
I am confident he would get it working - or at least confirm the drive and controller are good.

Hi MADrigal,
Thank you, what a great offer!
I would love to dump the discs!
Best way would be to ship me the discs and the drive / interface. I will build a working power supply and include it for you, when i ship everything back to you... :0)
Even the Discs only should be manageable (i own a "fluxteen" and know a friend with a Kryoflux, i guess they should be able to read them...)
But even better with the Drive / Interface...
Cheers, TOM:0)

Re: Salora Manager Disk ROM
Sorry but I can't bring the floppy disk drive to Europe... The disks will fit in my suitcase and therefore ship to Tom, but not the drive
Shipping the drive from Australia is also out of the question. Too fragile, not tested, I don't even know if it works, and the mechanical parts can get damaged in the trip. Last time I shipped something from Aus to Europe took 2 months to arrive
Are you happy to get the disks only?

Re: Salora Manager Disk ROM
I was doing some research on floppy disk copying, and was surprised at how cheap it is to do now.
For Apple 2 GCR disks, well - the good old arduino is all you need - so less than 10GBP, 15GBP if you need the IDC connector.
The software is open source https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Floppy
There's also an Apple 2 demo here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU6eMyiT2TM
I highlight Apple 2 as that's essentially what LASERDOS is - just modified geometry of 40 tracks by 14 sectors.
