Apples' design also used the 6309 8x256 PROM to store the drive and loader code.
I would speculate further that this page is mapped into memory at $2F00 - as the Salora and Laser BIOS' both jump to ($2FFE), if the value $A2 is found at address $1200.
I would also hazard that the drive employed GRC encoding, either the Apple 5/3 variant, which is most likely, or a variant of the Commodore 5/3.
Hopefully, we only need power to the controller long enough to read the 6309 out.
