Having read up on the Apple FD100 (sounds similar eh?), the design of the original controller is, well, damn close to what you have in the picture.
Apples' design also used the 6309 8x256 PROM to store the drive and loader code.

I would speculate further that this page is mapped into memory at $2F00 - as the Salora and Laser BIOS' both jump to ($2FFE), if the value $A2 is found at address $1200.

I would also hazard that the drive employed GRC encoding, either the Apple 5/3 variant, which is most likely, or a variant of the Commodore 5/3.

Hopefully, we only need power to the controller long enough to read the 6309 out.

Please - someone lend him a PSU!!

I have just came to know that the VTech FD100 floppy disk drive uses the same power supply as the Salora Manager/Laser 2001.

So, just in case Jarkko has 2 Salora Manager computers, he could use the spare PSU to power the FD100 unit.

Could someone post a picture of the Laser 2001 keyboard please.

I am trying to locate which keys the extra characters are mapped to.

Thanks.

Thanks Tom!

Once more the CSL cart does more. The extra characters are not available from the original keyboard.

If you have another power supply with -5V, +5V and +12V (i.e. an old PC AT supply), you probably could wire up a make-shift power supply given the pinouts. I suppose if you add a circuit to generate those 50 mA of -5V from a +5V source, you could based it on a cheap £2 hard drive power supply. Those are rated to deliver 5V @ 2A + 12V @ 2A, and just the other week I managed to power a Sinclair PC-200 for a whole day on a such supply. But as mentioned, you'd probably need that -5V.

Just got pictures of those Finnish items from the guys at the Pelikotietokoni webmuseum.

Very cool items, especially the floppy disk of the "word processor" program, it even has instructions manual!

Unfortunately I don't have much information about these items, but hopefully the Finnish friends will provide us with more information on them soon.

I obtained an Salora Manager and floppy drive recently, but as usual, both are without powersupplies (and also, the floppy drive adapter is missing). How to get an suitable power supply to the computer itself, i am not capable of making one - it's just something i'm not confortable making myself.

Is there any other solution or somebody who could custom make one?

Hi Cosmoz,
Welcome to the board!

You can use a PC AT or ATX powersupply, all you Need is the +5, +12V and -5V. And a DIN Plug for the Salora-side...
the pinout is printed on the PSU (find Pictures of it in the Hardware-section)...
PS: I think the Floppy uses the same PSU??? but i am not sure... but without the Interface it is no use...

Greetings TOM:0)
