Flynn lives, long live the Tron!

I've always been a big fan of Tron and I also love my classic Tomytronic tabletop game from 1982. It's such a fantastic toy and I had lots of fun and motivation to simulate it back in 2001.

I thought that all fans of Tron deserve to play a *perfect* simulator for the game, featuring high-resolution graphics, realistic sound effects, more accuracy in timing and action, bug-free and even being compatible with MAME/Arcade cabinet PC's.

I spent the past two weeks in adding all such features. The job was long, hard and boring from time to time, but it was worth it! The new simulator is done and ready for download - and it's of course dedicated to all the fans of Tron and Tron Legacy all over the world! :-)

Here's a comparison between the old and new versions:

New files available:

- Tron (Tomytronic) S4/1.03 (Standard 4, complete rewrite)
- MADrigal CD Collection ver. 57.4

Get them from the usual downloads page. Enjoy!

Two releases in a row today. While I was (very!) busy coding the "complete rewrite" of a previously released simulator - that's Bandai's classic, Las Vegas, I got reports of bugs and inaccuracies in the Donkey Kong (Multi screen) simulator.

I worked a lot on both games: Donkey Kong is now fixed and extremely true-to-original. Las Vegas is extremely accurate too, with realistic graphics, sound, gameplay and it's also 100% compatible with arcade cabinet controllers.

Here's a comparison between the old and new versions:

New files available:

- Las Vegas (Bandai, LCD Game Digital) S4/2.02 (Standard 4, complete rewrite + manual added) + source code
- Donkey Kong (Nintendo, Multi Screen) S4/1.07 (Standard 4, major bug-fixes)

Thanks go to Roberto Mayrhofer for beta-testing the Donkey Kong simulator, and to good old friend Jaro Gielens of Electronic Plastic for sending scans from the Las Vegas manual! New games are:

The games, the source code and the newly released MADrigal CD Collection ver. 57.3 are available for free download on the download page.

Here's yet another "old" simulator updated to the Standard 4. There's plenty of additions: much more realistic graphics, newly recorded sound samples at higher quality, bigger instructions manual browser and full compatibility with MAME cabinets interfaces.

The game is one of my favourites: Wild Man Jump - VTech Tabletop.
Here's a comparison between the new and old versions:

I'm also releasing a bug-fixed version of Baseball - VTech Explorer Series. New files available:

- Wild Man Jump (VTech, Electronic Tini-Arcade) S4/1.01 (Standard 4, complete rewrite + manual added)
- Baseball (VTech, Explorer Time & Fun) S4/1.01 (Standard 4, minor bug-fix) + source code

You will want to grab the games and the latest MADrigal CD Collection ver. 57.2 from the popular downloads page.

It took me long time and effort to update the simulator of one of the most popular tabletop games ever: Galaxy II by Epoch.

Well it's actually more than yet another update, it's a complete rewrite with clean source code, full compatibility to MAME-cabinets and larger and more realistic graphics!
Here's a comparison between the new and old versions:

The new game is:

- Galaxy II (Epoch, tableop) S4/1.01 (Standard 4, complete rewrite)

As announced last week, I'm now releasing the fourth game of VTech's rare Explorer Time & Fun series: Baseball.

The game shares the same gameplay as the other VTech game, Tennis Menace - which I simulated long ago, though featuring different graphics.
The new game is:

- Baseball (VTech, Explorer Time & Fun) S4/1.00 (Standard 4, final) + source code

I'm also releasing an updated version of the following game:

- Crazy Chewy (VTech, Electronic Tini-Arcade) S4/1.01 (Standard 4, fix to popup menu) + source code

All files are available on the popular downloads page as well as the latest MADrigal CD Collection (ver. 57) including all the released games and a very friendly user interface. Enjoy!

I'm proud to release the simulator of a very rare tabletop, which I consider a masterpiece, that's VTech's Pacman!

Coding the simulator has been quite tough, especially because I really wanted to keep the source code as "clean" and readable as possible - since it includes a few (quite simple) A.I. routines, too.
The game is:

- Crazy Chewy (VTech, Electronic Tini-Arcade) S4/1.00 (Standard 4, final) + source code

Unfortunately the program lacks the instructions manual browser. Please contact me if you own the original game with manual and you're willing to contribute by providing scans of it!
I'm also releasing new versions of the following games, with bug-fixes to routines managing the score/time panel display:

- Donkey Kong (Nintendo, Multi Screen) S4/1.06 (Standard 4, minor bug-fix)
- Chicky Woggy (VTech, Electronic Tini-Arcade) S4/1.02 (Standard 4, minor bug-fix)
- Chicky Woggy (VTech, Arcade Time & Fun) S4/1.03 (Standard 4, minor bug-fix)

Grab all the files and the new MADrigal CD Collection ver. 56, from the usual downloads page.

Don't miss next week's update: I'm now coding a brand new simulator of yet another VTech game: Baseball!

I finally had the time and will to complete the huge work I started last December, that's the complete rewrite of the Donkey Kong multi-screen simulator - one of the games I really love most!

The new simulator has much more realistic graphics and sounds, controllers are fully animated and the input and game routines have been completely rewritten in order to make it much more faithful to the original game in logic, speed, difficulty, etc.
In addition, controllers are now fully compatible with MAME-cab interfaces.

This is a comparison between the new and old versions:

The newly released files are:

- Donkey Kong (Nintendo, Multi Screen) S4/1.05 (Standard 4, complete rewrite)
- MADrigal CD Collection version 55.5

All files are available on the popular downloads page!

Thanks to the contribution of my good old friend, Jaro Gielens, I finally had the opportunity to add the instructions manual browser (in English) to the Chicky Woggy tabletop simulator. I'm now releasing:

- Chicky Woggy (VTech, Electronic Tini-Arcade) S4/1.01 (Standard 4, manual added)

The game is available, as well as the new MADrigal CD Collection ver. 55.4, on the usual downloads page.

I got informed of a tiny graphics bug in the V1.00 release of my latest simulator, Bomb Fight (VTech), by my good old Italian friend Francesco.
It took me 10 minutes to fix it, so I'm now releasing the updated version:

- Bomb Fight (VTech, Mini Time & Fun) S4/1.01 (Standard 4, minor bug-fix)

Game archive, source code and the updated MADrigal CD Collection ver. 55.3 are available on the popular downloads page.

No new simulators today, but a very useful addition dedicated to all the people who want to "take it easy" with playing.
I spent the whole day coding a new user-interface for use with my simulators, making every game playable with a couple of mouse wheel turns and a click.
This is how the new interface looks like:

It's featured in the popular MADrigal CD Collection, as well as the most recent updates of all the games.
Version 55.2 of the compilation is available on the usual downloads page.

Thanks to a very kind contributor from Ebay, I got scans from the English manual of the Chicky Woggy (VTech, Arcade Time & Fun) handheld, which I needed in order to complete the simulator I released over one year ago.
I included the manual in the program, and I'm now releasing it:

- Chicky Woggy (VTech, Arcade Time & Fun) S4/1.02 (Standard 4, English manual added)

You're obviously invited to grab the game and the updated MADrigal CD Collection ver. 55.1, from the popular downloads page.

I finally put my hands on the rarest VTech game of all: Bomb Fight! I immediately wanted to simulate it but then I found out that my beloved old scanner (a Primax Colorado on LPT port) had gone broken. It was my faithful companion since the very early days of this website.

I had to buy me a brand new scanner with 3D auto-focus scanning capability in order to grab the handheld graphics for the simulator!

The game actually shares the same gameplay as the other VTech game, Cessate il Fuoco, except a few minor differences such as more sprites on screen. Here it is:

- Bomb Fight (VTech, Mini Time & Fun) S4/1.00 (Standard 4, final)

The game is available, as well as source code and the new MADrigal CD Collection ver. 55, on the usual downloads page.
