Wizzard Tape Drive not working..

I acquired another Wizzard with tape drive but noticed it will not read any cassettes I have.

Swapping with another tape drive (same
tape) and it works so is definately the drive.

Play/rewind etc work all fine. Loading the demo tape I can hear over the TV the left and right channel with Dicks Voice and can hear the tape channel so it may not be load enough or something.

Idea? Is there a gain somewhere or the head is mis-aligned?

I found a diagram of the tape electronics ans will compare thr output at various stages off the output on the small corcuit board with osc. expect trans or cap breaking it.

I've been sticking with cartridges so far,
