22nd June 2025
This is the first website update of 2025 and yes, it is June and the previous update was in December 2024. I am aware that updates are less frequent than in the past. This is partly because not many obscure items are left to discover and add to our ever-growing online database (or, in other words, not many reasons why I should update the website). But also partly because the community of programmers and developers for CreatiVision is not as active as it used to be. Oh, bummer!
This update is actually really interesting with two pieces of news.
Firstly, I have concluded the interview to Australian long-time programmer of CreatiVision games Darren Robertson, who wrote one of the games published on the Second Book of Programs: Space Duel. The interview is available at the Interviews page.
Secondly, I recently purchased a never-seen-before cassette with original software for Laser 2001. The cassette is an official release by VTech, produced for the German market in 1983 and contains four games: Poker, Russian Roulette, Slot Machine and Dice Bowling.
Thanks to the combined effort of long-time contributors Giovanni Ortu and Kym Greenshields, the content of the cassette was dumped, verified, preserved and also converted to CASsette format and BASIC listing in text format, both for use with emulators. They play great on the creatiVision Emulator. See below screenshots of the games.
